What is the most inspiring thing about working at Compass, with students and/or in Montessori?

One of the most inspiring things to me about working with students, especially in a Montessori environment, is their curiosity and excitement for learning. Not only is this excitement contagious amongst the students, but it also makes me so excited to teach and continue to learn, no matter how old I am!

What is your favorite lesson in Montessori?

I love all things Montessori Math! I think my favorite materials are the large bead frame and the checkerboard. I love the concrete representation and also the bridge to abstraction that this helps children understand!

How were you introduced to the world of Montessori?

My sister went to Compass so I grew up in the community. I started working in aftercare and subbing and fell in love with the community and pedagogy quickly (after being quite the skeptic for a long time)

Fun fact - If we held a staff talent show, I'd wow everyone with my talent doing.....fill in the blank!

If we held a staff talent show, I'd wow everyone with my ability to laugh at ANYTHING... even if it isn't funny.
