What is the most inspiring thing about working at Compass, with students and/or in Montessori?

I am inspired most at Compass by all the guides I have seen in action. They care greatly about the children, each other, and diving deeper into Montessori philosophy. I am grateful to work with such caring, empathetic people on my team and throughout the school.

What is your favorite lesson in Montessori?

It is hard to pick just one, but some of my favorite lessons are food lessons - Slicing a Banana, Spreading Butter, etc. The children are so excited to learn how to make their own food and taste things that are sometimes new to them. It is really amazing to see their self-confidence grow when they realize they can take care of themselves independently.

How were you introduced to the world of Montessori? 

I first was introduced to Montessori through Compass. I subbed quite a bit throughout the Children's House and Elementary levels when my children first came here, and was blown away at the inquisitive nature of the children and the kindness and compassion of the Compass community. 

Fun fact - If we held a staff talent show, I'd wow everyone with my talent doing.....fill in the blank!
