What is the most inspiring thing about working at Compass, with students and/or in Montessori?

I love when the classroom community comes together and starts taking ownership of the classroom. They will help friends with coats and shoes, holding the door and greeting each other, and writing notes to help each other follow the classroom agreements.

What is your favorite lesson in Montessori?

I love the Moveable Alphabet. When children have mastered a majority of the Sandpaper Letters, this is the lesson that bridges the knowledge of sounds into writing words. Kids are always very proud of this accomplishment.

How were you introduced to the world of Montessori? 

I started as a substitute shortly after graduating college. I was so blown away by the children's independence and the community that the school nurtured.

List one passion you have outside of work

I love taking care of plants. I love to watch things grow, so in addition to all of the plants, I have started propagating plants, too.
